The Comédie Odéon is located in the heart of the Lyon peninsula, at 6 rue Grolée. It proposes events in the prestigious and historic venue that housed the first permanent cinema in Lyon from 1908 to 2012, long referred to as the CNP Grolée or the Odéon. Renovated in 2013, while preserving its old-fashioned charm, the structure has become a theater with a reception-bar-exhibit area. Easily accessible by all means of transportation, the establishment continues its cultural and artistic vocation for all Lyonnais. The theater opens daily for at least two screenings, while its team develops a program echoing the burgeoning model of the Parisian private theater.
Comédie Odéon, the theater of laughter and emotion!
The Comédie Odéon features variable but contemporary genres for all ages. High caliber popular comedies, plays that develop themes based on the originality of the script, mastery of the actors' craft, artistry of decor, poetry of lighting, power of the music... The theater is open to everyone, with special attention paid to families and children through ambitious programs for young audiences throughout the year, especially during school vacation periods.
For a season, everyone can applaud, laugh, be entertained and be moved by the uninhibited imagination of great nationally-recognized artists (directors, actors, musicians) and discover astonishing, emerging artists supported by the theater, putting a real spotlight on the rich talent pool of Lyon.
Many media libraries of the Metropolis of Lyon are also partners of the Lumière festival, hosting exhibitions, cinema workshops for children and families, lectures and meetings:
