Inaugurated during the 2012 Lumière festival with the exhibition, "Bob Dylan by Jerry Schatzberg" in the presence of the New York filmmaker and photographer himself, this standalone downtown gallery has since hosted exhibits by Steve Schapiro, Raymond Depardon, Chema Prado, Costa-Gavras and Jacques Henri Lartigue. It currently features an exhibition by Christine Plenus, "On the sets of the Dardennes."
Once a year, the cinema photo gallery holds a sports-themed photo exhibit as part of the Sports, Literature and Cinema festival at the Institut Lumière.
Photographs by Agnès Varda will be the featured exhibition at the gallery during the Lumière festival 2016:
Photo exhibition from September 1st to November 1st
Opening exhibit on Octobre 9th at 4pm in the presence of Agnès Varda
An invited guest of the Institut Lumière Cinema Photo Gallery, Agnès Varda brings us an exhibit particularly relevant to the festival.
We're familiar with her films, shown around the world. Yet few are aware of her photographs and art installations.
She has chosen to share cinema portraits, images and movement that illustrate this special project.
"Between the two fields of vision, photography and film, there is a gate I leave open."
