In a warm and fun atmosphere, critic and journalist Michel Ciment received the Bernard Chardère award at restaurant Le Passage on the Rue du Plâtre.

Priceless conversation!

Around 2pm, Thierry Frémaux approached the platform in the large dining room of the restaurant, accompanied by Bernard Chardère and began a brief, joyful and energetic speech: "After Jean-Jacques Bernard! Serge Kaganski! Danièle Heymann! Here is the young, very offensive critic, Michel Ciment! "

Then Bernard Chardère took the floor to remind us of the importance of the work of Michel Ciment, who has contributed to an essential and exciting reflection on the cinema: "Without Michel Ciment, I'm not sure we would be celebrating 65 years of Positif magazine. So thank you on behalf of the review. Thank you for your books too. Thank you for your role. Thank you for your style."

Thierry Frémaux added during a lull of relaxation, "Hypocrite!"

Applause.

Michel Ciment (Litt. cement), seated next to Thierry Frémaux and Bernard Chardère chimed in humorously: "Because of my name, I am very happy to be receive the award on Rue du Plâtre! (Litt. Plaster Street).

Applause.

Michel Ciment: "A long time ago, I bought the first issues of Positif, which cost me a fortune, and for a long while, I 'd ask myself, when writing an article for Positif, what would Bernard think? It is wonderful to honor a film critic with this award. I applaud the action of this festival, which establishes a dialogue between the present and the past."

On that note, Thierry Frémaux presented Michel Ciment, in his usual tone of lightness and good humor (while Bertrand Tavernier served as interpreter for Quentin Tarantino, ever attentive), the Bernard Chardère award. The award, in the form of a diploma, came with an added bonus this year, a copy of L'Encinéclopédie by Paul Vecchiali (Raymond Chirat award 2016), a gift Michel Ciment praised, saluting the strength to be biased and committed when writing.
